Trowell FC v Netherfield Colts 06/03/11

Trowell welcomed Netherfield Colts today at the Pit lane, the weather was cold but dry and the pitch was in reasonable condition so all the ingredients for a good match and Trowell didn’t disappoint

Trowell started off briskly, with new boy Connor Naylor settling in very well,  some great play from the start saw Trowell create several chances early on, some 10 minutes in we saw Trowell awarded a hotly disputed penalty after Connor Chilton was judged to have been fouled just inside the area close to the goal line. When the futile protests had been dealt with by the referee, Connor Naylor was given the chance to open up his account; He calmly stepped up and slammed the ball home to give Trowell the lead.

Trowell continued the pressure with some superb passing  football, and but for some great keeping by Netherfields goalie, should have at least doubled their lead by half time however the score remained Trowell 1 Netherfield 0.

The second half we saw Netherfield push Trowell back for a short period as they tried desperately for an equalizer, but our defence held out superbly, in fact 12 mins in Trowell scored another great goal when Connor Chilton scored a fantastic solo effort having taken the ball from just inside their half beating several defenders finishing with a good shot to take the score to Trowell 2 Netherfield 0.

As the half progressed tempers flared, and as a result of this a player was sent off, this now left Trowell with a mammoth task to hold onto the lead with only 10 men, and as much as Netherfield tried they couldn’t get past a resolute Trowell Team intent on holding out which they did superbly, and no only that, they also created a several chances to score again, however the score at the final whistle was Trowell 2 Netherfield 0

Man of the match went to the entire team who played and battled magnificently together

Well done all of you
