Trowells first home game saw the visit of a weakened West Bridgford. The first half saw Trowell press their advantage from the start, with Benji, Connor C and Josh playing some good attacking football. The build up play and passing was a lot better than last week, but again the final ball and finish was lacking in the early stages, with several chances missed. Trowell were also strong and confident at the back when ever the opposition broke. The best of the first half chances fell to Benji who’s shot was well saved by the keeper and also a good passing spell between Naylor and Jack that again drew a fine save. End of the first half 0 – 0.
Trowell started well again in the second half with Charlie supplying some good balls for Connor C. The two subs introduced in the second half, combined to give Trowell their first goal. Nakeel’s cross in from the left side, saw Ollie challenge the goalkeeper who never had the ball under full control and it ended up in the net 1 – 0. Ryan made several surging runs in the second half, which lifted Trowells performance. The second goal came initially from Ryan’s shot that was saved, the ball was cleared to Jack on the left side just outside the box, who shaped a volley into the top right corner of the net, giving the keeper no chance 2 – 0. Trowell kept pressing and with confidence high, Nakeel again placed a nice ball into Ollies path, who used his strength to beat the defender and push the ball home 3 – 0.
West Birdgford deserve a lot of praise for their team effort, which was rewarded with a goal 5 mins from time. A well placed free kick into the box saw the striker beat the defender to tap the ball home. Special mention to their keeper also who kept them in the game.
Well done Trowell some good passages of football and a good team effort
Man of the Match : Naylor Chambers , given for a his tireless effort all over the park
