Trowell FC 3 Pegasus Cavs 2

On paper this was a very tough match with both teams propping up the league table. Trowell’s only league victory so far this season was against the now dis-banded Bestwood, and ultimately led to Trowell having their victory points deducted.    Pegasus, the home side, looked a decent team with some nice pass-and-move football. Trowell’s defenders Ben Jeffery, Jacob Browne, Sam Nyilasi and Adam Morley were fully aware though and cut out many chances that Pegasus created. Goalkeeper Ryan Liversidge again kept Pegasus at bay, coming off his goal line and smothering loose balls. Trowell were getting a lot aof success going forward and were looking menacing with Matthew Gadsby and Oliver Severn having numerous shots on target.    The home team opened the scoring with an effort that beat Liversidge after Trowell had left a Pegasus player free on the edge of the box. But soon after, a corner taken by Charlie Sanders was headed by Ryan Malone, volleyed by Morley and headed into the net by Severn.    Matt Gadsby then put Trowell into the lead with a strike when a ball from Malone was delivered to him. Seconds later Pegasus equalised when they were given a penalty, Liversidge made agreat save but was unable to stop the rebound. Trowell pushed on and with team spirit high a shot by Severn was drilled low and although the keeper got hands to it  he could only watch as the ball continued into the net. The final score, Trowell 3 Pegasus 2.    This was a vital victory for Trowell and will hopefully kick-start their season as they look to gain on the teams above them in the top flight. Another team performance (possibly their best yet) as all players maintained their important roles on the pitch.           ATT.   41        POSS.   TROWELL   52%   –   PEGASUS  48%
