Trowell FC 3 Keyworth Utd Green 1

A must win game for Trowell, as the end of season loomed it was important that they went to Keyworth with a ‘must win’ frame of mind.

Trowell got an early goal from Oliver Severn using his sheer pace and strength to fend of his marker and beat the keeper with a low shot. It should have been a chance for 2 – 0 minutes later via a penalty when a Keyworth defender clearly handled a cross into the box, but seemed to go unnoticed by both referee and the oppositions linesman. Trowell’s work-rate was excellent in the first-half as they passed and moved professionally.

The second-half, and again Trowell worked very hard to keep control of the game. But after an attack from Keyworth, Trowells defence made a challenge with some force and the home side were awarded a penalty, and duly converted. With it all to do again, Trowell now had to go and look for a winning goal. Wave after wave of attack on Keyworth’s goal followed, and midfielder Adam Morley saw his strike hit the crossbar.

The next team to score was indeed Trowell, Sam Nyalsi had got forward to the edge of the eighteen yard box from the left  and met a loose ball, he struck a sublime left-footed shot, the high dropping ball beat Keyworth’s keeper as it dipped into the top left corner of goal.

Yet another penalty claim by Trowell and yet again this went unnoticed, but was soon forgotten when a corner taken by Sam Nyilasi was met at the near post by Oliver Severn who had to dive low for the header, and scored.

The 3 – 1 scoreline was a fair result as Trowell out-played Keyworth for most of the game and now moved out the bottom two and closer to safety in the league.
