Trowell FC 2 v Bestwood FC 1

A tough game was played today with both teams so far unable to secure any points for the season.

The first half of the game was very even as Trowell and their opponents went looking for the opening goal. The home side looked to be left open at the back as Ryan Malone had two or sometimes three players marking him. This left space for Oliver Severn and Faron Langley to attack the goal.

After a goalless first half Trowells determination grew and the first goal was scored by Ryan Malone after a through ball by Adam Morley to Sam Nyilasi who ran through midfield dribbling past three players to make a neat pass to Ryan who fired his shot low to the keepers right. Bradley Holmes, Ben Jeffery and Jacob Browne were instrumental in Trowell keeping possesion of the ball and Bradley made full use of his area on the right wing. Trowell went 2-0 up when after a foul on Ryan just outside Bestwoods goal area, Charlie Sanders converted a free-kick that bent over the wall and just in goal inches from inside the post.

But even at 2-0, Trowell didn’t quite feel safe and from some pressure in their own half, they conceded after Trowells goalie, Ryan Liversidge was beaten one on one with a forward.

The full time whistle couldn’t come quick enough for Trowell who, although were deserved winners, were just beginning to let Bestwood back into the game.
