Trowell went looking for another three points to start their climb up the league. Their opponents were Blidworth, themselves keen to collect points following a slow start to the season.
It was Trowell that scored first, inside the opening ten minutes of the game, a rare ‘early’ goal by Oliver Severn. But after that Trowell seemed to take their foot of the gas and allowed Blidworth into the game. As the home team had corner after corner it seemed only a matter of time before the score would be level, and sure enough soon after the second half had started, Blidworth equalised. This should have been a wake-up call for Trowell but again the home side pushed forward and netted a second. It could have been more if not for defenders Adam Morley and Jacob Browne both making goal-line clearances on separate occasions.
A brief spell of attack from Trowell and Oliver Severn got himself in space and tried a shot from 20 yards out. The ball bounced low unevenly in front of the keeper and into the goal, 2 – 2. A hard and fairly uneven playing surface troubled both teams as lots of missed chances came and went due to high bouncing balls and bobbling low passes.
As the final whistle went, it was Trowell who felt that the game was ’2 points lost rather than a point gained’, thanks to some dubious refereeing decisions which seemed slightly biased in Blidworth’s favour.
