Trowell FC 0 Kimberley MW Black 1

The past two meetings with these teams were both very good, close games to watch. For the neutral supporter, there was always opportunities to cheer and applaud.

Plenty of early shots by Kimberley from kick off as they looked for an early goal. Many of the shots though were not on target and Trowell were resilient and confident after taking 7 in 9 points from their last three games. Ryan Liversidge was alert to the early danger and Sam Nyilasi played very strongly at left-back making well timed tackles and big clearances. Ben Jeffrey, Adam Morley and Lewis Beaumont also had plenty of work to do at the back as did new Sunday signing, Charlie Gough. Ryan Malone, Matt Green, Brad Holmes, Matthew Gadsby and Oliver Severn also played well together.
As time went on, Trowell’s defence soaked up waves of pressure as Kimberley kept play far up field in Trowell’s half. But the visitors midfield began to carve out chances going forward and supply the front line with some neat through-balls. Matthew Maplestone was brought in to shore up the defence as Trowell went looking for a draw at least. Maplestone did his job well, man-marking and cancelling out crosses put in by the home team. Midway through the second half  Tom Lock and Dan Gadsby came on to continue the good work being set by our boys.
But with just one minute to go, Kimberley got the winner with a scrappy goal at close range. A cruel blow to Trowell who had fully deserved a point at least.
