A fantastic goal in only the sixth minute.
First half play was very even and Trowell were shutting out every cross and shot that the opponents were putting in.
A good effort by Ben Michell saw his shot at goal just whizz over the bar.
A chance to double their lead came when Trowell capitalized on a mistake by Ilkestons defenders and Severn had the ball crossed to him from Jacob Browne, but again, the ball just cleared the cross-bar.
In the second half Trowell were determined to protect their lead and were first to attack. Another chance and Severn crossed the ball in the box, but the keeper caught it before Ryan Malone could make contact.
Goalkeeper Ryan Liversidge made a number of good and crucial saves for Trowell at various points of the game, and defender Adam Morley had a very solid performance.
Despite Trowell’s passion, it was Ilkeston who scored two goals in 5 minutes after pressure from midfield, and were then able to hang on to the slim lead.
Despite a superb performance by our Trowell boys, the result finished at 2 – 1.
