Trowell were looking for three points today in an important game against Vernon, with both teams at the wrong end of the table neither could afford to lose. Trowell started the stronger and nearly forced their way through after a through ball by Holmes and good strength by Severn almost gave them the opener but under pressure Severn saw his shot go just wide. Vernon were strong and physical but Trowell were standing strong and keeping them away form the Trowell goal. Nyilasi broke clear managing to keep his feet after having his ankles clipped but the break in stride allowed the Vernon keeper to make a challenge and thenĀ the Vernon defence got back in for what should have been a corner only to see the ref give a goal kick, 0-0 HT.
Chances second half where few and far between as both sides seem to cancel each other out. Trowells defence looked in control and other than a couple of catches Liversidge was having a quiet afternoon, Nyilasi created the best chance to break the deadlock after skipping past one defender and riding a tackle he cut into the penalty area but blazed his shot wide when a bit of composure was required. Trowell kept pressing as did Vernon but neither team could find a way through, 0-0 FT.
