Trowell FC 7 Riverside 0

Trowell made a slow start to this game, not helped by the partly frozen and uneven playing surface. However, most of the play was to be in Riverside’s half.    A goal was disallowed after a long throw-in by new signing Charlie Gough, and was met by Matthew Green, who fired into goal but was judged to be offside with a team mate.    The first goal in the game was when Ben Jeffery had a go at goal but saw his effort hit the crossbar. Matthew Green was in the right place and was able to simply fire the ball past the keeper. A strong and persistent run by Oliver Severn taking on and passing three defenders, a twist and a turn had him create enough space to unleash a shot at goal, 2 – 0.    After the interval Trowell began to look stronger still, searching for more goals as Bradley Holmes and Charlie Sanders helped push the play forward out on the wings. Faron Langley had a shot stopped by Riverside’s keeper who spilt it and Charlie Hosker scored Trowell’s third. Centre back Lewis Beaumont, made it 4 – 0 with a low shot that passed four players (the keeper may have been un-sighted by this) but it was a fine goal none-the-less. Moments later 5 – 0, after Trowell’s opponents goalie once again could not hold onto the ball, and quick decisive thinking by Jacob Browne pounced on the ball. An impresive and determined run by Browne saw him double his goal tally for the match. James Aldridge had numerous shots at goal, but although none found the back of the net, he was deeply involved in Trowell going forward and pressurising Riverside. But Trowell weren’t quite finished yet and from a long pass into the box by Charlie Gough to Oliver Severn, who then struck a low shot to finish the rout. 7 – 0 the final score.    A convincing score which could have been more had it not been for some good moments by Riverside’s defence.         ATT.   42     POSSESION.     TROWELL 90%   –   RIVERSIDE 10%
