Trowell travelled to Gedling today in the 2nd round of the shield and it was clear to see the pitch was going to be a major factor in the game, a small and undulating pitch was going to make control and space an issue. A scrappy first half saw Gedling take the lead after a horrible bounce left Hitchin stranded and a simple tap in for the Gedling striker. Trowell replied within seconds when a penalty was awarded for handball which was neatly dispatched by Wilde, 1-1. Wilde then got his and Trowell’s second to give Trowell the advantage at half time, 2-1. Trowell came out of blocks quickly in the second half with Jakobsen making it 3-1. Gedling pulled one back and this seemed to be the spark Trowell needed, four goals in seven mins saw Brown grab a hat-trick and Jakobsen get hia second and gedling replying with a nicely taken lob the game ended 7-3. Gedling worked hard and with a little more time to gel thay will be a handful for most teams.
