Trowell FC 5 Clifton A W 0

Trowell sent out a message today to all the other teams in the division with a 5-0 victory away at Clifton. Their first chance came after an overlap run by Bradley Holmes saw the ball passed to him from Ryan Malone, Bradleys cross into the box was just missed by an in-coming Faron Langley.    But Farons reward came moments later when with the ball at his feet he was able to round the goalkeeper and slot the ball into the net for Trowell’s first.

Bradley got Trowell’s second goal from an excellent delivery from a corner kick taken by Charlie Sanders.    Trowell were now capitalizing on their oppositions goalie after some questionable distribution kicks by him, and sure enough, a quick thinking Faron made it 3-0.    4-0, and Faron got his hat-trick after a clearance by Charlie who fed the ball to Ryan, who then made a good run down the left wing and crossed it into the 18 yard box, Faron who had made a well timed run to beat the offside trap smashed the ball into the goal.

Tom Lock made a good save for Trowell on the edge of his area, diving at the incoming forwards feet and collecting the ball. Lewis Beaumont and Jacob Browne made important tackles throughout the game to help keep a clean sheet for Trowell, who by now were playing some attractive football. Matthew Green, Charlie and Adam Morley all came close to getting on the score sheet towards the end of the game, but it was Oliver Sharratt who finished the goal rout off after the keeper spilled a shot and he was there to thump the ball home.

The fact that Trowell managed just 55% possesion for this game shows that it was not as such an easy win for them and they still had to work hard for the points.
