Trowell FC 5 Burton Joyce 0
Trowell continued their unbeaten start to the season with a comprehensive win over second place Burton joyce allowing Trowell to leap frog them in the table. Trowell began the game in determined mood and almost had Green through on goal in the opening seconds of the game, Langley and Green looked menacing up front and caused the Burton defence many problems. Trowell forced numerous corners but even with the expert delivery from Sanders Trowell struggled to make the most of them, Burtons keeper was in fine form keeping out Trowells attack repeatedly. All trowels efforts still hadn’t produced a goal and they were almost made to pay when Burton forced a way through the Trowell defence only to be thwarted by a good save from Lock in the Trowell goal, as half time loomed it looked like the deadlock wasn’t going to be broken then form a corner from the right the ball fell to the feet of Beaumont who guided the ball over the defence and into the net, 1 – 0. Trowell quickly went two ahead with a great shot by Morley from 25 yards out, 2 – 0 HT.
Trowell continued to push forward in the second half but were still finding it diffcult to get past Burtons keeper Langley had plenty of efforts and was unlucky not to be on the score sheet, Holmes and Sharratt had shots on goal but it was Morley who scored Trowells third with another good shot, 3 – 0. Jeffery then made it four after a great ball by Liversidge put him through one on one with the keeper and Severn made it five after a great ball by Aldridge one of many he had supplied second half. The game was becoming quite physical and a great defensive display by Hosker, Browne, Green and Sharratt kept Trowells clean sheet in tact, 5 – 0 FT
