Trowell Blue 7 Burton Joyce 2

Trowell faced Burton Joyce at Pit Lane today hoping to continue their unblemished season after already having chalked up eleven straight wins. Burton who were top for the earlt part of the season had now fell away a little could not be taken for granted.

Trowells team talk was to come out the starting blocks quick and keep the ball moving and they didn’t disappoint with the first only three minutes old  a great piece of play by Beaumont turning one way and then the other before slipping the ball to Severn who played a lovely ball out to the right for Holmes to run onto but his strike went just wide of the far post. On six minutes Trowell did open their account when Severn fed Langley who hit his shot over the keeper to give Trowell the lead, 1-0. Trowell were in total control and on nine minutes Sharratt made it 2-0 a great dribble inside the box by Severn beating three players eventually came through to Sharratt on the edge of the box who smashed the ball over the keeper and into the roof of the net, 2-0. Two goals in two minutes by Severn put Trowell four up after only fifteen minutes, his first a low shot from just inside the area not hit cleanly put placed well enough to beat the keeper and his second a candidate for goal of the season, after collecting the ball on the halfway line  Severn drove down the left beating two defenders with pace before cutting inside the third and unleashing an unstoppable shot into the top right hand corner, 4-0. Trowell hadn’t finished and on twenty two minutes ashot from Lock was well saved by the keeper but he could only watch as Aldridge ran in and grabbed his first of the season, 5-0 HT.

Second half got underway and Burton came out fighting, Trowell seem to lose a bit of momentum and the game became scrappy although Trowell still managed to create a couple of chances but Burtons keeper was playing well to keep them out, but he was unable to stop Greens effort on thirty five minutes when he broke through the defence and dispatched his shot past the keeper, 6-0. Then came a mini revival from Burton Joyce the first due to hesitancy by Trowell and when the ball came free in was neatly put away, 6-1 and the second came shortly after through lack of communication in the Trowell defence and again a neat finish by the Burton striker, 6-2. Trowell made it seven right at the end when Morley netted with a good shot from just inside the box, 7-2 FT

A good game very competitive and played in the right manner, well done to Burton who kept going throughout.
