Trowell Blue 4 Clifton AW 0

A determined and commanding start was made by Trowell who were on the attack from kick-off.

Within minutes, Trowell were a goal to the good thanks to a superb strike from range by Ryan Malone who found himself one-on-one with Clifton’s goalkeeper. More pressure for the visitors continued, and when Faron Langley was brought down on the edge of the box Trowell had the chance to double their lead with a penalty. Up stepped Faron who duly converted the spot-kick.
Clifton were struggling to cope with Trowell’s skill and momentum of attacking style of play, and were becoming increasingly physical and desperate to get a hold of the ball. This fustration even filtered through to Clifton’s management who were questioning every decision that went against them.
Oliver Sharratt got a third for Trowell, a goal that had started when Bradley Holmes ran down the right wing and crossed the ball into Matthew Green who then passed to Oliver. Faron got his second goal of the afternoon to put the game out of reach for Clifton by making it 4 – 0.
Again, more football in Clifton’s half, and with the ball bouncing around loose in the box, Tom Lock latched onto it, only to be fouled, and another penalty for the home side. Matthew Green took the penalty, smashing into the top corner and sending the keeper the wrong way, but the ref ordered in to be re-took as a couple of players had encroched into the box as the penalty was being taken. But Matthew mis-placed the re-spotted ball.
Clifton did have their spells of attack and a couple of corners, but nothing that troubled the defence or goalkeeper Ryan Liversidge.
So, 4 – 0 was the final score, the same score as when these teams first met at the start of the season, and yet another victory for Trowell FC u12′s.
